Poe, Ferrington Vineyard Chardonnay, Anderson Valley 2010

A winning wine - we are so delighted to present to you this Chardonnay from Poe. The legendary Ferrington Vineyard is possibly best known as a single vineyard designate site for Pinot Noir, but did you know it also produces world class Chardonnay? Proprietor Samantha Sheehan and winemaker Jon Keyes (Sine Qua Non, Outpost) chose a mix of three Chardonnay clones; the very special Wente clone, Robert Young, and 76. The grapes are pressed lightly (a Champagne press) and fermented in barrel. The juice is never inoculated, and finishes fermentation on its own. Depending on the level of malic acid present, they allow the wine to go through malolactic fermentation.
