Kudos are in store for the dynamic duo of Karen Cakebread, founder
of ZIATA, and her able winemaker, Anne Vawter. There are a few
Sauvignon Blancs that put a smile on our face every time to taste
it, and ZIATA is one of them.
Fermented in stainless steel, and aged in neutral French oak
barrels, this wine is focused and vibrant. As winemaker Anne
says, "Aromas of fresh lime, bergamot, yellow peach and ripe
pear are underscored by a hint of warm and spicy clove and vanilla.
In the mouth, stone and tropical fruits and a refreshing
acidity are balanced by a rich, full body and a generous,
Half of the fruit comes from the Windy Flats Vineyard in
Napa's Eastern hills, the rest from the Rutherford AVA, an area
better known for world class Cab, but a dreamy and ideal place to
grow Sauvignon Blanc, as well.
About 700 cases produced, all in honor of Karen's mom, Mary
Annunziata, or "Ziata".
