If you have not had the Apriori wines in the past, you are in for a real treat. The latest vintage of this incredibly tasty Red blend is once again offering the most insane value for Napa Valley wine.
Apriori (a pri·o·ri) adj: thinking with deductive reasoning or intuition.
Apriori was founded on the principle that quality, authenticity, and joy should be part of every wine experience. With a winemaking philosophy deeply rooted in balance and terroir, co-owner and founder Patrice Breton (Vice Versa) has always felt driven to produce wines of clarity and balance. Eventually, he partnered with his long-time friend and classmate, Georges Sabongui, and together, the two are responsible for some of the best value wines in all of Napa Valley. Intending to showcase the best expression of each vineyard and the distinctive personalities of their respective climates, the pair enlisted the help of consulting winemaker extraordinaire, Phillipe Melka, who has made a name for himself contributing to the success of various Napa Valley legends such as Vice Versa, Bryant Family, Hundred Acre, Vineyard 29, Gandona, Dalla Valle, Adamvs, Davis, Lail, Perfect Season, and of course his very own label, Melka.
The 2016 Proprietary Red captures a true expression of California’s finest appellations. A blend of predominately Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Sirah from acclaimed AVA’s including Rutherford and Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Medium-dark ruby color. Enticing and complex, the wine opens with a perfume of ripe raspberries and blueberries, plums, lightly toasted oak, and sweet herbs. The medium bodied palate is juicy, showing fine ripe tannins, and a silky, pleasing texture.
