Driving up and down Highway 29 in the Napa Valley, there is beauty in every direction. And while the stunning estates and flashy properties that pepper the valley floor and hillsides catch our attention the most, there are also places that haven’t changed since the beginning of time; places where work boots sit outside the front door, muddy dogs run in the vineyards, and all members of a family are hard at work. Broman Cellars is just one of those places, and Bob Broman is the man behind it. Tucked into the hills below the crest of Howell Mountain lies Bob’s tiny two-acre vineyard and home. With over 35 years of winemaking experience in the Napa Valley working for esteemed wineries such as Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and St. Supery. When you ask Bob, "When did you start being a winemaker?" he chuckles and responds with, "In the dark ages."
A longtime ACME favorite, it's a joy to share the new vintage of Sauvignon Blanc from Broman Cellars with you. We enthusiastically champion this expressive and zippy wine! No pretense, no smoke and mirrors, these are honestly made, authentic wines made by the lovely Bob Broman. Year after year, we reach for this wine when we want a beautifully crafted Sauvignon Blanc. The Broman wines check every box: family owned and operated, micro-production, a proven track record of making superior wines for 23+ vintages, and wines that deliver far beyond their bottle price. These are not wines that you find just anywhere, and we like it that way.
As always, Bob Broman's main goal when making this wine is to display a pure expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Coming from a small vineyard in Rutherford, the Broman philosophy is to let this delicate fruit shine through by cold fermenting in a small stainless-steel tank. They do not use oak or malolactic fermentation, and let the fruit speak for itself. The 2019 vintage expresses aromas of Meyer lemon, nectarine and white peach with tropical fruit flavors on the palate and a clean, crisp, fresh finish making for a perfect glass of wine, with or without food. The bright acidity will hold up to many different cuisines, as well as being the perfect companion on these toasty summer days. 337 cases produced.
