There is a fervent following for the fantastic DuMOL wines, and there has been since winemaker and partner Andy Smith started making his superior Sonoma County Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah back in 1999. Andy and the DuMOL team believe in wine quality through precise viticulture and reasoned sustainable and organic farming, and we are more likely to find them in the vineyard focusing on original grape quality rather than in the winery trying to find ways to ‘improve’ finished wines.
While the wines have always been top notch, Andy has entered a new era in winemaking and winegrowing at DuMOL as of late, and these pristine wines have never been finer.
From the DuMOL Estate in the Sonoma Coast appellation, this wine is a model of restrained power: a whisper, not a foghorn. We find precise, tense acidity that courses through this wine from start to long, mineral-stained finish. It is a highly detailed, nuanced and focused wine with prominent aromatic savory elements and unfolding layers of fruit richness. Great natural acidity and drive. If you are a fan of the finest Chardonnays around, then this is your wine.
