Coming exclusively from the famous Tench Vineyard in Oakville. Adjacent to Screaming Eagle RUDD, and Gargiulo along the Oakville Cross Road at the juncture of the Silverado Trail, we marvel at the color of the iron-rich soil and the rolling rows of vines each and every day we make the trip up or down the valley. These grapes absolutely thrive in this environment and who can question that? The neighborhood consists of the aforementioned wines plus Phelps Backus Vineyard, Dalla Valle, Tierra Roja & BOND St. Eden. The Oakville stamp is on this wine. The structure, both muscular and elegant, speaks to any palate.
This is a refined beauty of Riverain’s luxurious Oakville Cabernet, which is a very strict barrel selection derived by separating their two vineyard clones, and choosing the highest quality French oak barrels. Only 4 barrels made the cut!!!
Under the watchful eye of Thomas Rivers Brown, they have been able to achieve an incredibly elegant wine that shines alongside their famous neighbors. It has a deep garnet-purple color with scents of blackberries, ripe plums and black current, with touches of cocoa, licorice and spice exploding from the glass.
This wine is wonderfully full-bodied and expressive at this youthful stage. It has a firm backbone, and abundant tannins with a balanced freshness that deliver an extremely long finish. Drink now with a decant or cellar until 2035!
