Notes
~ one of our FAVORITE RELEASES OF THE YEAR!!!
Shared
Notes is the joint venture between wife and husband winemaking team, Bibiana González Rave and Jeff Pisoni.
While these two incredibly talented and passionate winemakers make wines
separate from each other,
Cattleya
and Pisoni Vineyards respectively, 2012 marked the first vintage that they
produced wine together and of course, ACME was one of the first to get
it. A celebration of Sauvignon Blanc, each year Shared Notes produces two
wines paying homage, separately, to the white wines of Bordeaux and the Loire
Valley, with grapes sourced from the Russian River Valley. Truly
exceptional wines, crafted with care and shared love, for both the sites and
grapes that make the foundation of the wines, and for the union that binds these
two incredibly talented winemakers.
Ever
been lucky enough to have the extreme pleasure that comes from a bottle of
Dagueneau from the Loire Valley or Chateau Haut Brion Blanc from Bordeaux? These are two of the very best expressions of
Sauvignon Blanc in the world. But not
only are they hard to come by, they are also some of the most expensive SB's
produced. I will defend to my grave that
the wines made by Rave and Pisoni, are unequivocally the very next best thing,
if not better.
'Les
Leçons des Maîtres' (Lessons of the Masters) is inspired by the cellar masters
of Bordeaux and their dedication to the two white varietals they grow and blend
there, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
This classic Bordeaux composition (76% Sauvignon Blanc and 24% Semillon
for the 2019) allows for the Sauvignon Blanc's aromatic profile to be paired
with the Semillon's textural weight and density. Made with 100% whole cluster pressed fruit
and aged in 100% new French oak barrel, then aged eight months on the lees,
this has an amazingly complex array of vibrant aromas of crushed white peach,
Bosc pear, and honeysuckle. Flavors of
stone fruits, ripe melon, and lemon zest combine with mineral driven notes of
crushed rock and sea air to form a precise, yet complex profile. Vibrant, mouthwatering acidity dances on the
palate, while generous volume and texture from aging peacefully on its lees
provides an unmistakable richness. Only
138 cases produced.
